In the past few months, Laundry Luv has held a few events for the surrounding community, as well as helped victims affected by the San Angelo flooding on July 4th, 2025. These community efforts reiterate our philosophy “Do Good by Doing Good” by ensuring that our business not only provides essential services, but also fosters community care and engagement.

Laundry Luv Partners With Somebody’s Rusty

On April 29th, 2025, Laundry Luv partnered with Somebody’s Rusty for their Laundry Love event that helps the homeless community of San Angelo, TX. Somebody’s Rusty, Laundry Luv, and 25-30 volunteers handed out free meals, toiletries, blankets, and new clothes while also providing free haircuts to anyone who wanted one. The 19th Street Laundry Luv provided space for the event while also providing free laundry service to those who wished to use it. 

During the Laundry Love event, Somebody’s Rusty, Laundry Luv, and volunteers were able to help and serve between 50 to 75 attendees. Laundry Luv ended up washing 42 loads of laundry and drying 37 loads for people in attendance. 

Philip Cross, the manager of the 19th Street Laundry Luv location, says he loved the event and is excited about the prospect of partnering with Somebody’s Rusty again soon, “Everyone was very appreciative and positive; I didn’t hear one single negative comment the entire evening. It was really neat to see a couple of people when they left being so happy and proud because of their haircut, etc. It was really worthwhile.” 

Laundry Luv Hosts Adoption Event With Concho Valley PAWS

On June 14th, Laundry Luv proudly partnered with Concho Valley PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) to hold a small dog adoption event outside of our Sherwood location in San Angelo, TX. The people of San Angelo were able to come by and check out some of the adoptable dogs Concho Valley PAWS had to offer.

In partnership with Concho Valley PAWS, and to help do more for adoptees, anyone who adopted a dog was entered in a raffle for a $50 Laundry Card to Laundry Luv. Adoptees also had the chance to win a free grooming session from Concho Valley PAWS. By the end of the adoption event, three dogs were able to find their furever home.

Laundry Luv Helps San Angelo Community After Floods

On July 4th, San Angelo, and other parts of Texas, were hit with devastating floods. Many peoples homes and possessions were destroyed or severely impacted and left people wondering what they were going to do. With two of our laundromats located in San Angelo, we knew we had to help.

Throughout the month of July, Laundry Luv provided free laundry to anyone impacted by the flood. We opened our doors to our community and were ready to help in every way we could. We served many people who were directly affected by the flood as well as groups dedicated to helping flood victims.

Laundry Luv also distributed prepaid laundry cards to the people at the PaulAnn Church temporary shelter with the help of United Way of the Concho Valley. 

Philip Cross, manager of our 19th Street location (the powerhouse of the community help efforts), is very proud of the workers he manages and of their hardworking efforts in the flood’s aftermath, "This time not only bonded us with our community, but it also connected our team like nothing else could. Our employees worked tireless hours starting machines, helping people load explaining how the machines worked as many of the customers had not been to a laundromat for years if ever. The staff also helped fold and offered whatever help was needed to the people who came in. Most of all, our staff listened to people who were hurting and in trouble and really wasn't sure where to turn.”

Laundry Luv’s Annual Backpack & School Supply Giveaway

On Saturday, August 2nd, Laundry Luv held our annual Backpack & School Supply Giveaway. Each Laundry Luv location gave away backpacks, school supplies, and bags of oatmeal and mac and cheese generously donated by Meals of Hope.

In the end, we were able to give out over 150 backpacks. Each location was able to successfully give away all backpacks and put a smile on kid’s faces!

Alex Esparza, manager of our Sherwood location in San Angelo, TX, enjoyed the giveaway and is proud of the turnout, “Everyone was super thankful and loved the variety of colors to choose from!... Overall I think it went really well and I’m super thankful we get to do stuff like this.”

Laundry Luv’s Childhood Literacy Support

One of our main initiatives is to support childhood literacy by building a children’s play area and reading center in every one of our stores. We bring in books each month and encourage each child to take a book (for free) back to their home. We are also committed to supporting reading programs for children in low-income communities.

In 2025, from June to August, Laundry Luv has given away 345 books throughout our three locations in Abilene, TX and San Angelo, TX.
